Electrical & Electronics Engineering [EE] Department Profile

Academia in action: where data-driven feedback fuels tomorrow’s transformative learning.

About the Department

The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering was started in 2002 with an annual intake of 60 students. Staffed with the right proportion of senior and experienced professors on one hand, and young and vibrant faculty on the other, the department fathoms the alerting needs of society through research projects and industry-institute interaction.
The majority of the department's graduates are employed in electronic, communication, computer, power, oil & petro-chemical and consulting industries. Excellent lab facilities are provided to familiarize all necessary equipment and tools in a detailed manner under this stream.
Regular seminars and industry interaction programmes organised by the department help students gain a better understanding of modern technological trends and developments. The committed faculty and staff are fully geared up to deliver the best electrical engineers with core technical knowledge as well as professional skill, by offering value-added educational experience through quality instruction.
The primary objective of this department is to deliver the best electrical engineers emphasising their role in research, design, implementation and improvement of electrical systems — with an acuity in issues including teamwork, leadership, safety, ethics, service and economics in professional organisations.

Programmes Offered

Courses Offered Duration Intake
B - Tech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering 4 years 30
B - Tech in Electrical & Computer Engineering 4 years 30

The department offers the B.Tech degree programme in Electrical and Electronics Engineering affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU), Kerala and accredired by NBA till December 2028. The programme provides a unique mix of Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Control Engineering, and Computer-related courses. This combination enables students to choose a professional career and/or pursue higher studies in any of these streams. The wide range of programmes and open elective subjects covers a broad spectrum of the subject domain and enables students to specialise in their areas of interest.
The curriculum, based on the credit scheme, is periodically updated in consultation with experts from industry and academia to reflect the latest changes in the Electrical Engineering stream. The Department is equipped with the latest hardware and software tools to support knowledge dissemination in the classroom and provide hands-on practical experience.

Placements & Industry Connect

The Department maintains strong industry linkages with leading companies through internships, industry visits and collaborative projects. The majority of graduates are employed across electronics, power, communications, oil & petro-chemical and consulting industries in India and abroad.
The department's robust placement record is supported by regular industry interaction programmes, guest lectures from industry experts, and a dedicated placement cell that works closely with companies to provide opportunities for students. An Alumni Scholarship programme also supports meritorious students, ensuring financial barriers never hinder academic excellence.
